There used to be a time when employees who can do remote work are known to be the privileged workers. However, that was several years ago. Today, remote workers are plenty and to be able to do remote work is not really a privilege anymore. Plenty of companies now allow their employees to do this for a variety of reasons and the top being employees who can work anywhere and at any time usually are the most productive ones.

The world of remote working has also been changing. Trends have even started to show up, and experts who have been looking at this has created a list of some of the trends that remote workers will be experiencing this 2019. Read on and find out what these are.

Basic computer skills will no longer be enough for employers.

Years ago, to be a remote worker, you have to know the basics of using a computer. Today, that has changed. This 2019, experts are saying that the trend will be that employers will be looking for individuals who do not only know basic computer skills. Employees should have advanced computer skills. After all, there are plenty of back-office jobs that businesses need which remote workers can do. Most of these tasks are simply not those that require basic skills. Advanced skills definitely would be needed. It is a good thing though that there are plenty of training and lessons on-line that focus on computer skills that plenty of remote workers can use to gain more knowledge and skills. There are some that are free, so you can definitely take advantage of them. Plus, it would not hurt you and your resume to have more skills under your name.

Reporting to the office becomes the norm.

Studies have been done with remote workers as respondents. When asked what was the top issues that they faced being a remote worker, a good portion of the respondents had mentioned that loneliness was something that they had to endure. This is not surprising as most remote workers do their jobs at home without anybody around. It can be really lonely especially if you are a social person.

With this, experts are saying that many companies would soon be looking into this dilemma that remote workers have. The trend this year would be that many of these companies that allow remote work to be done actually would be asking their employees to report to the office at least once a week. This would let their employees to interact with their colleagues and keep that feeling of loneliness at bay.

Cybersecurity will level up.

With tons of news going around of hackers getting into accounts and gaining customers’ information, it is not surprising if cybersecurity will definitely level up this year. Many remote workers will be asked to get excellent cybersecurity systems to make sure that data is not breached and that all company and customer information remains secure. Business will invest greatly in this, experts say.
