Each new year is a new chance and an opportunity to make some changes – be it personal or be it in the workplace. This is why there are year-end reviews so businesses can take a look at the past year and see what flaws were made and create plans for the upcoming year to rectify those errors. And for 2019, there seems to be quite a significant amount of changes to happen especially in the world of equality in virtual offices.
2018 has seen quite a considerable amount of businesses going for virtual offices. They are a far cry from traditional offices, and they surely would open new doors and new opportunities for plenty of people especially this year. As per experts, here are some of the top trends that could happen in 2019 in terms of quality in virtual offices.
Providing paid leave credits for employees.
There are virtual offices that treat their employees as freelancers. They only provide payment for the job done, and that’s it. These employees do not get any paid leave credits that regular employees usually get as part of their benefits. However, it does seem like business owners that operate via virtual offices now see that it is important to treat their employees as regular employees. 2018 has seen many employees getting such benefits. Experts recognise that this year would see even more virtual offices providing such benefits.
Aside from the usual leave credits for employees to get holidays, it does seem like there is also a move towards providing paid leave for employees with elderly parents. It does seem that there are plenty of workers who resign or are not able to do their work well because they have to care for their elderly parents. This should allow them to get some time off to focus on taking care of the old folks.
Many business owners are now starting to focus on the working hours that their employees have. Usually, it is 9 am to 5 pm – just like traditional offices. However, it does seem like employers are seeing just how much more productive employees are when they can work flexible hours. Aside from being able to work anywhere, these employees can start to work any schedule that they choose to work, as long as they can clock in the needed hours or they can fulfil of their duties for the day. Many studies have been done on this, and it looks like there are positive results for allowing employees to do this.
Employers also see that when virtual employees can work flexible hours, they are happier and are also more productive. This allows them to do the things that they want to do without having to sacrifice their work – or the other way around. Employees are happier and are healthier because they do not have to worry about their other responsibilities. 2019 should prove to be a year where many virtual offices would offer their employees such an option.
